This page explains what information this website collects, why, and what you can do about it. We've tried to keep it short and plain.

Who we are

Bear Hill Studios is run by Laura Cox and Dave Cox in Bath, UK. We're responsible for the personal information collected through this site. If you have a question about it, or want to use any of your rights below, please get in touch.

When you contact us

If you send a message through our contact form, we receive your name, email address, the topic you choose and your message. The form is handled by our web host, Netlify, which stores the submission and forwards it to us.

We use this only to reply to you and to discuss any work together. We don't add you to a mailing list or share your details with anyone else. We keep messages for as long as we need them for that conversation, and delete them on request.

Analytics cookies

With your permission, we use Google Analytics to understand how many people visit the site and which pages they look at. When you first visit, we ask whether you're happy with this. Nothing is loaded from Google Analytics and no analytics cookies are set unless you click Accept.

If you accept, Google Analytics sets cookies named _ga and _ga_…, which last up to two years. Advertising features are turned off. You can change your mind at any time with the Cookies link at the bottom of every page; declining removes these cookies.

We remember your choice in your browser's local storage (not a cookie), so we don't have to ask on every page.

Videos, fonts and hosting

• YouTube. Some pages include YouTube videos. These use YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode, so YouTube doesn't store information on your device until you play a video.
• Fonts. Our fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which means your browser connects to Google's servers and they see your IP address.
• Hosting. The site is hosted by Netlify, which keeps short-term server logs (such as IP addresses) to run and protect the service.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask to see the information we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, or object to how we use it. Just contact us. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.
